Factors That Affect BTU Requirements

• Room size — larger rooms need more cooling capacity
• Ceiling height — higher ceilings mean more air volume to cool
• Sun exposure — west-facing rooms get significantly hotter
• Room type — kitchens generate extra heat from cooking
• Occupants — each person adds about 600 BTU of body heat

• 9,000 BTU (1 HP) — small bedrooms, studies (up to 12m²)
• 12,000 BTU (1.5 HP) — standard bedrooms, small living rooms
